Coolest Thing I Did This Week
Pictures above is a cat’s tongue, with 7 stitches, that I did at 7:30pm tonight.
I’m starting to rather enjoy soft tissue surgery, although it’s an unfortunate situation when the coolest things you can do (like this reconstructive stuff) are only able to be done after something pretty serious has happened to the animal.
For those of you with cats, see if you can have a little look an their tongues. See those spikes? The ones they use for grooming? One of those is how big the stitches are, and the cut goes half way through the tongue. Fortunately tongues heal pretty well, and this kitty should be ok, and I can’t help feeling a little proud that I’ve actually managed to fix something.

Great job! What kind of trouble did the kitty get into to hurt his tongue like that?
He tackled a car and lost. It almost split his tongue in two, and he’s just lucky there was someone there to witness it.
My clinic cat decided to tango with a toyota last week too. No major injuries, but we kept him well doped up for a few days to help him get over it. He’s suddenly a lot more reluctant to wander off now tho :p
I was going to ask the same thing Sparkle did!
What a neat suturing job. But poor kitty! It makes me shiver to imagine having an injury like that. Hope it heals up quickly.
