Fairy Godmother

Today, I feel like a Fairy Godmother.

Very keen for dinner time!

Very keen for dinner time!

Remember that cat I took in who had been hit by a car? Three anaesthetics and a month later and he’s a normal cat, except for one lump (a haematoma that will shrink) and slightly crooked front teeth. He was eating normally, bright and active. Probably too active for a person living alone who comes home utterly beat after doing what often turns out to be an eleven hour day. As such, his original owners (who loved him very much, but other life circumstances meant they wouldn’t have been able to syringe feed him at the time) received a phone call on Wednesday informing them that we was a normal cat once more and just wondering if they had room for a cat in their life again.

Turns out my little cat had a buddy back home. A young kid about waist high that probably wasn’t even in pre-school yet, who had grown up with this cat, he slept in his bed at night, and had been asking for days when the cat was coming home, and then why he wasn’t coming back. [Read more →]

The Story So Far:

Large internet providers suck.

I haven’t forgotten to write, I simply have no internet connection at home, and blogging from work strikes me as a very bad idea.

Also, my USB seems to be incorrectly formatted for anywhere in this state, so my pre-written posts have been severely delayed.

However, I’ve been working hard forabout 4 weeks now, half way through my probationary period, and am enjoying myself most of the time. There are good days and bad days, mostly depending on how much sleep I had the previous night, and I’m genuinely enjoying the town.

The cast of pet owners I have encountered thus far have also been fascinating, and repeat encounters filled me with either joy or dread. I am also coming to truly understand the statement “The first sign of insanity is owning more than 3 cats,” especially when you need to make a house call to vaccinate them.

Rest assured posts are being written, I’m just having technical difficulties.

Internet and Phone

If you arhave moved into a new house and need to connect the internet and a landline phone, beware. If you encounter any troubles the company will tell you to refer to their website f help (which you cannot access due to no internet) or to call their 13 number and sit on hold for 20 minutes (which is a bad move because you have no landline, only a mobile phone)

Also, my usb appears to be not formatted for any other computer in this state, preventing me from uploading posts at net cafes and so on.

As such, posting has been disrupted more than I’d like. Hopefully the internet guy will fix these problems soon.
